Prof. Kwame Agyei Frimpong

Professor Kwame Agyei Frimpong is a Professor of Soil Science, soil scientist and international development consultant with over 20 years of professional experience in teaching, research, programme evaluation and technical advisory services across Africa. His expertise spans climate-smart agriculture, soil fertility and nutrient management, sustainable land management, agricultural productivity and natural-resource management.

He has served at the University of Cape Coast since 2010 — as Lecturer, Associate Professor and, since June 2026, Professor of Soil Science — and, since 2024, as Senior Scientist for Precision Nutrition Management at the African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI), leading regional initiatives on sustainable soil fertility and climate-smart agriculture. He has served as Principal Investigator, Lead Evaluator and Technical Advisor on assignments funded by the European Union, USAID, DANIDA, Horizon 2020, the German Research Foundation (DFG), the African Capacity Building Foundation and the World Bank.

Professor Frimpong holds a PhD in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Aberdeen and an MSc in Physical Land Resources (Soil Management) from Ghent University. He is recognised for bridging scientific research, policy and practice to deliver evidence-based solutions that enhance agricultural productivity, environmental sustainability and rural livelihoods.
